As we walked towards Kitschen, which has managed to attract a steady stream of patrons since 2021—not just from Piraeus—I wondered if we would find a corner to satisfy our craving for conversation and Asian delicacies. A disclaimer: it’s best to opt for any means of transport other than a car to get there, as this part of the neighbourhood is not particularly welcoming
We sat at a table inside for added comfort. Typically, you won’t find cocktails at Kitschen during lunchtime. However, they did us a favour when they realised how much I needed a Chino Latino (which I affectionately call the "anxiety remedy").
We began with cauliflower tempura, "glazed" with garlic mayo. Vassilis Bakasis wrote about this a couple of years ago, and I must admit that the temperature difference between the tempura and the mayonnaise is now perfectly balanced. The fluffy bao bun also arrived, appropriately filled with pulled duck confit. My friends and I agreed that we were missing something; a dip on the side would have been helpful, though I can’t say for certain.
A standout dish was the Fried Chicken with sweet chili sauce. Thanks to the light touch of the chicken, combined with chopped pineapple and accompanying herbs, the delightful "heat" of the sauce wasn’t lost. We finished with the steamed cod, paired perfectly with buttery vegetables in a magical pumpkin and red curry sauce. According to my friends, the highlight of the day was mixing this sauce with the fried rice we chose as a side.

Overall, the cuisine combines a careful approach to ingredients with the exuberance of a Greek table. This blend is appreciated by foodies of all ages, as our latest visit confirmed (and let`s not discuss age; don’t pout at my girlfriends!).
P.S. The girls managed to contain their indulgent nature and left room for the baked (not burnt, thank God!) cheesecake with caramel sauce, nuts, and matcha powder. The dessert featured a generous amount of cream and sauce; overall, we felt satisfied and didn`t miss a thing. However, I`m sure the team could craft a dessert that continues the Kitschen culinary adventure, like the mochi already featured on the menu.
