This is significant news for Greek gastronomy abroad, and this time it comes from Paris: Philip Chronopoulos is taking over the kitchen of the historic two-Michelin-starred Le Taillevent, succeeding Giuliano Sperandio. We are talking about one of the great restaurants of the French capital, a temple of French classicisme, which opened in 1946, gained its third Michelin star in 1973 and held that rare distinction for 34 years, writing one of the most brilliant chapters in Parisian haute cuisine.
Philip Chronopoulos became the first Greek chef to earn two Michelin stars in Paris, at Restaurant du Palais Royal, while in 2025 FNL honoured him at the FNL Best Restaurant Awards with the Greek Culinary Ambassador award, recognising precisely his role as one of the most important ambassadors of Greek gastronomic identity abroad.
His arrival at Le Taillevent carries, I believe, strong symbolic weight as well as great promise. A Greek chef, already with an outstanding career behind him, is taking over one of the historic houses of French haute cuisine. We wish him every success from the heart as he begins this major new chapter, one that has every reason to become among the finest of his career so far.
